SOTERIOLOGY: THE DOCTRINE OF SALVATION (Part III)

SOTERIOLOGY: THE DOCTRINE OF SALVATION (Part III)

This devotional series focuses on a matter of supreme importance.  “SOTERIOLOGY” comes from the Greek root word, “sotero,” which is translated into English as “salvation.”  Understanding salvation, receiving salvation and sustaining salvation is mission critical to our eternal purpose and destiny.

Kingdom Principle #1:
God has not appointed us to wrath. (I Thessalonians 5:9)

Kingdom Principle #2:
Salvation comes by grace, the unmerited favor of God. (Ephesians 2:8)

Kingdom Principle #3:
Jesus Christ is the Offering for our salvation. (Hebrews 9:28)

Kingdom Principle #4:
Although we do not ‘work for’ salvation, we must ‘work out’ our salvation. (Ephesians 2:9 – Philippians 2:12)

Kingdom Principle #5:
There are three practical stages in the salvation process.
1)        Believers have been saved from the guilt and penalty of sin. (Ephesians 2:4-10)
2)       Believers are being saved from the habit and dominion of sin. (Galatians 2:19-20)
3)       Believers will be saved from the physical results and impact of sin. (Romans 8:18-23)

Kingdom Principle #6:
Grace is the means (of salvation) and faith is the mechanismFaith is the conviction wrought in the heart by the Holy Spirit as to the truth of the gospel, leading to a heart-trust in the promises of God as fulfilled in Jesus Christ, and by extension in us.
1)        The Author and Finisher of our faith is Jesus Christ. (John 3:14-16 – Hebrews 12:2)
2)       Faith is the road to redemption and eternal life. (Romans 3:28; 1:17; 4:5; 10:14 – Galatians 2:16 – Ephesians 2:8)
3)       We walk by faith, not by sight. (II Corinthians 5:7)
4)      The Law is the schoolmaster or tutor for our faith. (Galatians 3:22-26)
5)       Faith must be applied prayerfully and consistently. (James 1:6-8 – Hebrews 10:38-39)
6)      Faith is the only way to please God. (Hebrews 11:6)

Kingdom Principle #7:
Once you have been converted to true faith in Christ Jesus, it is your responsibility to share the good news with others who do not know Him. (Matthew 28:19-20 – Acts 1:8 – I Corinthians 4:1-2)

You are an ambassador of the King eternal and it is your appointed task to live in harmony with His Word so that others may be convinced of the reality of a relationship with Christ.  Walk in it!

Sisters and brothers, be continually blessed, and please (above all else) MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY TO MEET OUR SOON COMING KING. Maranatha!
