FAITH LETS
GOD BE GOD
Because
God is sovereign and because He knows
what is absolutely best for us, we must learn to trust His heart, even when we
cannot trace His hand. In a word, our
limited human understanding is (in NO way) an accurate reflection of God’s
infinite love, compassion, care and provision for us. Sometimes we believers have the tendency
(even following our prayers) to attempt to assist
God in settling our situations and answering our petitions. My friends, never forget that HE is “the only [and the all] wise God.” (Jude 1:25) GOD knows exactly what He is
doing; and He is always up to something spectacular behind the scenes. So…TRUST HIM!
The following anecdote is a powerful demonstration of this indispensable
Kingdom principle of trust in God.
The only survivor of a shipwreck washed up on a small,
uninhabited island. He prayed fervently
for God to rescue him, and every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed
to be forthcoming. Exhausted, he
eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from
the elements and to store his few meager possessions. One day, after foraging for food, he arrived
home to find his little hut engulfed in flames, with thick black smoke billowing
into the sky. The worst possible thing had
happened; he no longer had shelter and all of his possessions were lost.
The marooned man sank into deep despair, before feeling completely
outraged and beside himself with anger at GOD.
With his whole body trembling, he cried out loudly toward the heavens, “GOD,
how could YOU do this to ME?!?” Early
the next day, however, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching his
uninhabited island. It had arrived to rescue him. “How did you know
I was here?” the weary man asked
of his rescuers. “We saw your huge smoke signal,” they
replied. Wow!
Remember. Your
burning hut could just be a signal that will mobilize and materialize the power
and provision of God. So never fail to keep
encouraging yourself in the Lord. (I Samuel 30:6)
Growing up as children in the Bass family, one of
Solomon’s wise sayings was displayed on our dining room wall as a constant spiritual
reminder to us. It challenged us to never
get stuck in the limitations of
our own abilities; but rather, to totally lean and depend upon the Lord. Here’s what we read daily.
Proverbs
3:5-6
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own
understanding.
6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he
shall direct thy paths.
So let
us resolve to fully trust in HIM through all of our conditions and
circumstances. After all, HE is
supremely able to do “exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think,” and
He does it all “according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)
Sisters and brothers, be continually
blessed, and please (above all else) MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY TO MEET OUR SOON
COMING KING. Maranatha!
