THORNY BLESSINGS (Part II)
My friend, even if your life seems to be ‘coming up
roses,’ you’re bound to get your fair share of thorns to accompany them. You see, thorns are no happenstance occurrences;
thorns are intentionally designed and mission critical to personal growth and
development. Consider the eagle. Most of us have observed photos of huge eagle’s
nests situated in the branches of a colossal tree or in the craggy rock of a mountain
cliff, but few have actually gotten a glimpse inside. Let’s take a look.
When mother eagle constructs her nest, she lays a
foundation of thorns, broken branches, sharp rocks, and other items that seem
entirely unsuitable for the environment of her offspring. She then lines the nest with a thick padding
of wool, feathers, and fur (from animals she has killed) – making it quite safe, soft and comfortable for
eggs and hatchlings. By the time her
growing birds reach flying age, the comfort of the nest and the luxury of free
meals make them rather reluctant to leave.
That’s the moment when mother eagle begins stirring up
the nest. With her strong talons she
begins pulling up the thick carpet of fur and feathers, bringing the sharp
rocks and branches to the surface. As more
of the soft bedding gets plucked up, the nest becomes extremely uncomfortable
for the young eagles. Eventually, this
and other maternal urgings prompt the growing eagles to leave their once comfortable
abode and move on to a more mature and independent behavior: FLIGHT.
According to Isaiah 40:31, YOU too have the God-given
capacity to “mount up with wings like EAGLES.”
Those discomforting thorns you encounter are simply your life-runway. Fly high and soar!
Sisters and brothers, be continually blessed, and
please (above all else) MAKE SURE YOU ARE READY TO MEET OUR SOON COMING KING.
Maranatha!
