LITERALLY YOURS

LITERALLY YOURS

The Word of God is living.  Like God Himself, the Word is active, immutable [unchangeable], and will never ever fail.  The thing I love most about our God is the fact that we may totally depend upon His Word.  According to Jesus Christ, who is “the author and finisher” of our faith, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.” (Hebrews 12:2 and Matthew 24:35)  After all is said and done, we can take God (quite literally) at His Word.

Some time ago, a man of simple faith had a serious stomach malady.  Day and night, he wrestled with debilitating pain.  As a result, rest eluded him, and sleep was practically impossible…until he heard a Word.

His pastor’s Sunday morning text was found in one of the so-called “minor prophets” of the Old Testament.  In it, this sick man (who continually experienced sharp abdominal pains throughout the service) received a powerful Word of confirmation for total healing.  In fact, it was a literal interpretation of the scripture:

Zephaniah 3:17
The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

This sick man was no theologian.  He had no academic credentials.  He did not even know where to locate the book of Zephaniah in his Bible…but he simply believed GOD.  And when he heard the pastor proclaim that GOD is mighty “in the midst of thee,” he said to himself, ‘if GOD is there…in the MIDST [the middle] of my body, then I must already be healed, in spite of what my symptoms are telling me.’   So, while he was caught in the throes of excruciating pain, the sick man jumped out of his seat and declared loudly, “GOD IS IN THE MIDST OF ME…AND I AM HEALED!”

The congregation stared at him.  Some smiled; others laughed.  Nevertheless, because he acted in simple faith on what God had literally said, he received an immediate fulfillment of His promises.  After all, our faith is actually “the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)

While some of us might be tempted look upon this man’s literal interpretation of the scriptures with eyes of skepticism and doubt, he did receive a healing solution for a chronic condition.  Question: ‘Is your rational mind, your intellect, or your reasoning capacity hindering YOU in any way from receiving God’s best?’  If so, prayerfully consider the following:

II Corinthians 10:4-5
(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

If you can only believe, God’s Word will work – quite literally – for YOU.  “Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23)  So all of God’s promises are literally yours.  Sisters and brothers, be continually blessed!
